Kaapsehoop - South Africa [05:42]
The Canon Legria is an amazing little camcorder. It's almost impossible not to capture that special moment. This video was recorded using the Canon XH-A1 and Legria camcorders. I used a Stedicam Merlin. I used "time lapse" when recording clouds at sunrise in the blue swallow reserve and the clouds of an afternoon's shower of rain. All footage was recorded at the historic mining village of Kaapsehoop where gold was discovered in 1882 resulting in the gold rush. People from all over the world left their homes to join in the search for gold. Unfortunately there is little left of the original buildings which are in total ruin. Others are in unreachable abandoned places. Kaapsehoop is however now becoming a well frequented area for tourists. It has become a popular venue for weddings. New buildings have been erected based on the architecture of the gold rush era. Feral horses roam freely on the surrounding mountains and in the village itself. It is said these are decendents of the horses early miners used. The area surrounding Kaapsehoop has now been planted with pine trees to supply a nearby paper mill. One area has however been left as it was during the gold rush. This is an area where the endagered blue swallow breeds. Kaapsehoop is also well know for it's unique rock formations and rolling mist, which often takes one by surprise. A uniqie and beautiful place. Enjoy.

Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve [05:35]
HLUHLUWE-UMFOLOZI GAME RESERVE -- Home video recorded on our trip to South Africa in 2002. What a great reserve this is and highly recommended to all who wish to seek a reserve to visit. This footage was filmed on a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder and this was my first video edited on Pinnacle Studio 14. Hope you enjoy it. Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, located 280 km north of Durban, is the oldest proclaimed park in Africa. It consists of 960 km (96000 ha) of hilly topography in central Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and is known for its rich wildlife and conservation efforts. The park is the only state-run park in KwaZulu-Natal where all the Big Five Game occur. Due to conservation efforts, the park now has the largest population of white rhino in the world.
