music notes
Hey, Im from Canada and Im travelling to SA for 6 months (mostly working somewhere around Cape Town). I am addicted to Dave Matthews Band and blues. I really like old school hip hop and OutKast, the Pharcyde and some other more underground groups. I would love to know if bands from North America come to play any concerts in South Africa , this year?! Maybe (if you like my music tastes) we could meet up or whatever!

What I like...
I'm a Swedish girl who found this site on the net. I'm very intrested in SA, I wrote a 20 pages essay about how SA splitted the apartheid, in school.
Ma favourite music is reggae, but I also like dancehall, hiphop and folklore.
Half a year ago I saw a dancing group from SA, called Uphondo. They were amazing...
Anyone know them?

Hi Hanna,
can't say that I've heard of them.... but it soudls like it is is from a different music direction to what I am into..... Sorry.
Do you know any other SA bands or groups... from what you write you'd probably like "Kwaito" if you are into Afrikan music. See if you can find any of it on the internet.... once again can't help you with names of artists.

Hi Mar-T!!
If I know any groups in SA... -Yes!
I know Lucky Dube (and I'm very fond of his music)
Once I had a Namibian boyfriend, who was a musician, he said he had a band in Namibia called The Mighty Dreads, and I think he sayd the had toured in SA. Maybe you know them?
I don't remember any more groups of SA, at the moment...

Hi
I live in Bedford, Texas.
I listen to a plethera of different genres. I range anywhere from 80's new wave music, classic rock (like Led Zeplin), folk music, Punk music, bizzare rock (like Oingo Boingo), Trance, Techno, Drum-and-base, video game music, and even Classical music.
I refrain from Country music, and 90% of Rap music.

Hey all
Hey Hanna,it seems like you are into african music, well,i am sure you would love Ladysmith black mambazo, their music is so beautiful and very very african, they are quite famous I think...another good band is Juluka!
Otherwise i love punk-rock-pop music like Matchbox twenty, lifehouse,Radiohead,Deus,Muse,Calexico,Nirvana, etc
I also like other singers from sweden like Lars Winnerbäck,The Ark etc
