The Kruger National Park is the affordable option---you can drive yourself around or go on safari with a Ranger.
Skukusa Camp in the South of the park is like a small town and can be quite busy especially during the South African National Holidays.
We stayed at Letaba in the centre which is much quieter.
If you are looking for a more personal option then the private camps which run along the Western side of the park are certainly worth it----Sabi Sabi, Mala Mala,Thornybush and Kapama to name but a few.

If you are travelling to the Eastern Cape then Shamwari Game Reserve must be the icing on the cake.
Here we stayed at Lobengula Lodge which is small and intimate and very African.
Here the Rangers have an uncanny knack of finding elusive animals.
