Well, then, hang ten dude. Surf away.

Books are for reading and gaining more intelligence and information in detail. It does not end with the advent of the internet, you goose.

Funny Soois!

Human:
I surf the web and am very adept at it, but I still prefer to find a niche and time to myself for reading a good book or magazine. Perhaps to you the internet is the crib notes of education in life.

Reading books is not for entertaining only, but to increase one's store of knowledge. He sucks in information as eagerly as the hummingbird sucks nectar from flowers. The whole world pours wisdom into his mind. It is a waste of time to go through life being ignorant. It breeds discontent, bias, anbd discourages free thinking. It leads to wrong judgements and wrong conclusions.

Life would be poor without books to encourage creative thinking and activity. Life is but one continual course of instruction, which includes the internet, but not just it alone. How can you read a book on the internet? You can't. Amazon.com will offer you to buy it. You may find excerpts from books and poetry etc. but a book is not going to be and never will be extinct.

There is one book I´d like to recommand with, especially while travelling in South Africa, and that book is Mandela´s autobiography. I read that book doing my travels in Africa and when I finally arrived in South Africa I felt as if I knew a little more about the country and it´s history.
Like all travellers do, I went to Robben Island and actually got to see Mandela´s cell. It was strange to see the place where the book I´d been reading was written and it was almost familiar to see some of the places within the prison Mandela mentioned repeatedly in his book, The place where he hid the script, the "mattress" he slept on, his little garden, and above all, his cell.
I also saw the place in district 6 (in Cape Town) where he publicly addressed his nation after 27 yrs in prison. Being a big admirer of his, it was a life changing experience for me to see all these places I had only read about in books and newspapers and having read the book gave me a better insight of all these places.
For all of you who are generally interested in the man himself and those of you, who just like me, admire the man and his work I strongly recommand with mandela´s autobiography. And those of you who are just looking for a good book to read before bedtime, I promise you that you will enjoy reading this book.
I HOPE YOU´LL ENJOY READING THE BOOK!!

Pretty nice list....although as mainstream popular as you can get. Here is some others :
1) Fear & loathing in Las Vegas, by Hunter S Thompson. This is one of the best, and funniest, books ever written, although anything by the good doctor is worth reading a hundred times.
2) Phillip K. Dick short fiction
3) The Elenium trilogy, by D. Eddings.
4) Dracula by Bran Stoker
5) Mystery by Peter Straub
6) The Throat by Peter Straub. Both Mystery and Throat is good by themselves, but read them right after another for one of the wickedest mind-****s ever.
7) Hundreds and hundres of others. Really. Sort of makes the point of these lists worthless, eh?

Oh yeah, Dalene Matthee is okay for standard nines, but really....
Afrikaans novels sucked since for ever. Writers like Ena Murray and the like just shot it in the head, and kicked it of the cliff to crash to the rocks of mediocrety below. Maybe some more Van Nierop is needed.

Some of the Koh Samui villas are set on peaceful hills adjoining sea. So, when a sea wave hits the big boulders below, you are actually able to experience some butterflies in your stomachs. Such is the experience of the exotic locales where these Samui villas are located. The villas are located in peaceful places, but not much far from action. You can anytime visit the flee market to buy exotic sea shells, or belts made from fish’s skin for you dear and near ones.
