I am in need of some actors for a an amateur-movie that I will be filming in the next four months to a year. This is a serious project, and aimed at the international film festivals. The budget is (so far), within the R15,000 area, and as such I would really not be able to give a definitive monetary payment. Since this post is aimed at amateur actors needing a first break, this won't really be of consequence.
I need....(A)someone with some acting experience, preferably, although no experience is hardly grounds for refusal. There will be auditions, and test screenings, and only here is where we will start getting judicious.
(B) Someone that lives in the East Rand area. Again, this is not too compulsory. Having your own car would help tons. Working hours would be weekends.
(C) Someone that will be willing to play a brooding, gothic character, be subjected to buckets of fake blood, and scream his her throat of. Serious profanity, as well as some light blashphemy(...oh, god! it's a zombie...), so you christian kiddies, keep away.
(D) Someone of age 19 - 26 (male), and 16 - 21 (female). Currently, there is no roles for black actors, although hey should still attend the auditions. If they are very good, one of the characters might hust be rewritten for him. This is not out of racism, but because there is just so many roles (seven), all white. I am not willing to sacrifice my art in the name of affirmative action, make of it what you want.
This will not be a movie about our country specifically, although the setting is SA. Neither is it about our political past, or any politics, for that matter. Rather, think along the lines of Evil Dead, lots of undead-demon-spawn being hacked to bit with axes, demonic showdowns between evil forces and our slightly evil anti-hero.
At the moment, the script is nearing completion, and we are going into the beginning stages of pre-production. I cannot give any specific dates for auditions, or when filming will start. Hopefully the whole project will be completed be the end of the year (3 months shooting, 4-6 months post-production)
