Is dit? & Aikona....What does it mean?

1.Have you heard the Afikaans phrase "Is dit?" and "Aikona" as in "Aikona fish" ?

What does this phrase mean?

2.Why one says, "How are you?" and other responses, "No, I'm fine." Or" No Howzit?" and oter responses," No,fine."

Does this kind of response somehow have relationship with the phrase "Jawellnofine" and phrase"Aikona"?

Aikona....
I don't know where it comes from but it is an expression of disbelief.... mostly negative... also can be used insted of "damn it"... actually there are many instances where it can be used.... never positive.

Is dit... is Afrikaans for "is it?".... or "really?"

"Howzit" comes from "how is it" which is the South African "How are you".

"Jawellnofine" is "yes well no fine" meaning "yes".
