I'm moving back to SA as soon I can afford to and I'd just like a bit of info about how things are over there. People have told me that its no longer safe due to rising crime and violence. I grew up in a small town on the south coast of Natal, so I don't really remember too much crime etc, nothing that would put me off. I've been living in England for the pat 10 years and I'd say that theres plenty of violence ect over here so it won't change my mind. I'd just like to know so that at least when I move I've got all the facts.
I'm hoping to come back in March 2003 for a holiday, so I've got just over a year to get as much info as I can. Hope you can help!!!!
Lots of Love

Hi
I have been away for about 3 years now, so I guess my input isn't too accurate. But I have noticed a difference every time I am back on vacation. To be quite honest, if you live in a small town sowhere coastal you probably have little to fear. City centres are definite no go areas these days. One thing that you should also consider is the steady decline of the Rand. Now at 17 to the pound it has been going downhill for as long as I can remember. But if all that doesn't bother you I encourage you to go back. I'd love to but I have gotten used to safety and as a white male I don't exactly have the best career opportunities in SA.

Anywy you can always mail me if you wnat to know more

I hate to use the old adage of "you cant go home" but unfortunately it's true. I left Durban for Canada 13 years ago, and now live in the UK. I spent the first 5+ years pining for SA, remembering it was when I grew up there. It's not the same, and it wont be the same again. It cant be, too many things had to change. It's not a flip thing to say it's unsafe. It really is NOT safe, and once you're there the chances of leaving again with the exchange rate being what it is, is very slim, so think carefully about why you want to go back.

Well,my dear
Since there are people living there, and quite a few million,it must be possible to live there and earn a living,it just depends on what you do and where you live. But it does work. I know, its not the same as before and i am in the middle of living 5+ years away from their and i know how you feel or felt, but I am going to live there anyway and I am not giong to give up that dream,or stop having faith that things will sort themselves out someday.
Love/rosie :-)

Some of the Koh Samui villas are set on peaceful hills adjoining sea. So, when a sea wave hits the big boulders below, you are actually able to experience some butterflies in your stomachs. Such is the experience of the exotic locales where these Samui villas are located. The villas are located in peaceful places, but not much far from action. You can anytime visit the flee market to buy exotic sea shells, or belts made from fish’s skin for you dear and near ones.
