Who thinks Hansie (Cronje - for those who don't know) is guilty?
Yes, I know that he said he was not totally honest, but he was the last person in the team that I would think to accept a bribe.
I think there is an alternative reason for him coming into the open.
It is a sad time for SA Cricket. As long as we beat the Ausies in the current series, this will help to bring up our moral and hopefully back to where we were.

Who else was involved, it wasn`t just Hansie was it...?
Definitely the last person I would have expected to be involved.
What happens to him now...?

Gibbs and Boje were the other two south african accused. Both have denied any involvement and Hansie has confirmed this.
There were also some Indian and Pakistan players that were accused, but I don't know who.
Hansie has been dropped as captain and from the team while everything is under investigation.
I hope the whole situation gets sorted out and he returns to the side, he is such a huge asset. Not only as a player, but as a captian there is no one like him.

Sumeet dobhal writes :
Hansie, we all in India are behind you.you
have a huge emotional fan following in India and we all pray to God that you
can get out from this mess with honour intact.Clear your wrongs by donating
the illgotten money to some charity work. You are an honest person and may
god give you & your Family."

It's really a sad day for south african sport in general. The world won't see it as Hansie taking a bribe but that the whole team is corrupt.I'm sorry to say this but his international career is over.

So much for team solidarity. The latest news in Australia is that Klusener dobbed him in. Steve Waugh has got some nerve saying these type of players have to be removed from the game. His brother and Warnie were found out doing exactly the same thing ang got a slap on the wrist for it. Typical hypocritical Aussies. Now you know what I have to put up with.

I think you might be on to something. If I was to approach someone on the SA side, Hansie would be the last person I would go to. How many players did the book keepers go to before they went to Hansie, and how did they react to the bookkeepers. We will never know.
My personal opinion is that Hansie does know of other players who have accepted bribes, but is taking all the wrap so that SA cricket does not look too corupt, and so that the other players do not get implicated in any way.
But whatever happens, Hansie will always have a place in the South African public's heart. He was been a brilliant ambassador (until now) for SA, and an excellent player in the team. He will be sorely missed if he never returns.
I'm just glad we gave the Ossies (that feels like a sware word) a good beating the other day.

We have also heard that Klusener was the player that split on Hansie.
I don't know how to react to this because one side of me is dissapointed that he (Klusener) could betray a fellow player - which is not what you want in a side, shows no unity.
The other side of me is greatly dissapointed that Hansie could do that to his country and therefore does not deserve to be in the side.
Klusener would then be correct in his actions, this shows his loyalty to his country and to the team.
I know all about Australia and their bribe issues (my brother inlaw is a Ausie ). I think that not enough was done about it, what does it show to the rest of the country especially young players coming into the game. A good example, I don't think so.

Well, never in my wildest dreams did i imagine Hansie as being susceptible to the wiles of bookies. I'm a 19 yr old from India and, amazingly, a lot of Indians feel sorry for Hansie and some are still reeling under the shock[incl.me] The latest i've heard is of some English woman called Debbie Coleman who has accused Cronje of ditching her after an affair...I just don't know what to believe and what not to believe anymore. If, heaven forbid, this turns out to be true, i don't think i can ever forgive him for THAT.I mean, fixing matches is one thing, but cheating on one's wife is a totally different thing!

An English woman has claimed to have had an affair with him?? Nothing in the English press about it - not even the comics like The Sun!
Seems it's a general problem as, here in England, Chris Lewis is "helping the ECB with their enquiries" into match fixing by other players - apparently, he's made some allegations although no names have been mentioned yet.

I've been out of the sporting loop for quite a while now, I was hoping that somebody could give me an idea of the whole story here. I was told a brief rundown of the story by my aunt in a letter she sent me.
According to her Hansie was accused of taking bribes for fixing matches. Was this done for gambling money? That's the only reason I can think of for someone to pay the SA team to throw a match.
Am I on the right track here?

Okay today has been a huge shock to my system! I heard about hansie and the bribe vaguely but I didn't realise until now how serious it is!I moved to england 3 years ago and have not heard much from home!
I would never have believed that hansie could do such a thing he is my cricketing hero, well i am very angry!I don't think that it should only be him to blame because it is never only one person involved in these kind of things!
And as for him having an affair, please, loads of people try to pull that trick on famous people!
Anyway I love S.A and I will stand by them no matter what!

Mark,
According to the British press, he was taking money from a bookmaker for predicting the outcome of matches which, although it isn't match-fixing, it's not far off.
