Splashy Fen Festival

The Splashy Fen Festival is an annually outdoor music extravaganza held on Splashy Fen farm of South Africa's Southern Drakensberg area. This thrilling festival boasts top music acts from around the country as well as plenty of fun activities for the entire family. The 2007 Splashy Fen Festival will be held from 5 April through to 9 April, and is an event you won't want to miss.

An important objective for the organizers of the Splashy Fen Festival is that all music must be original and purely South African. When it originally began the festival promoted folk, light rock, iscathamiya and mbaqanga music genres. However, over the years it has come to embrace pop and alternative rock. This fun-filled festival truly brings a blend of sounds together, representing the rainbow that is South Africa. Each year, the Splashy Fen Festival attracts thousands of music fans who gather there to enjoy the music, camp out, swim, purchase crafts and maybe head off on a hike. Organizers of the South African festival set up 2 live music marquees for non-stop listening pleasure. The African Rainbow Village offers patrons a fantastic opportunity for relaxation. In this area you will be able to browse through crafts, engage in fascinating workshops or enjoy a delightful therapy treatment. Other hubs of activity for the family are the arts and crafts market, children's entertainment area and children's crèche (7:00 am to 10:00 pm). All your needs are provided for with the bars, beer garden, food stalls, camping zones, hot showers, toilets, police tent, medical tent, security, tent hotel, an ATM and information tent. Festival-goers can also enjoy activities in the area such as horse riding, golf, hot air ballooning, helicopter flips, paragliding, quad bike tours and tennis.

So what does the band line-up for Splashy Fen Festival 2007 look like? There is certainly something for everyone with performances by The Parlotones, Jack Hammer, Rory Eliot, SpoonFeedas, New Academics, Tony Cox, Chris Chameleon, Tidal Waves, The Hellphones, Taxi Violence, The Kiff, LA Cobra, Myepic and much more. Very popular is the Free Stage where those who wish can showcase their musical talents.

If you would like to join in the fun and excitement of the 2007 Splashy Fen Festival, then purchase your ticket from Computicket, certain Game stores in Kwazulu-Natal province or at the gate. Children under the age of 12 years gain free entrance.
