Spurred on by the resounding success of the inaugural Global Breakthrough Festival held in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2007, organizers, DJs and party-goers are gearing up to do it all again – but even bigger and better than before. From 27 February to 2 March 2008 Global Breakthrough teams up with Miller Genuine Draft for five days of partying in some of Cape Town’s prime venues.

South African clubbers can grab hold of the opportunity to party to the sounds of local DJs along with some of the most sought after international DJs, covering a diverse spectrum of genres. International clubbers are invited to enjoy the South African clubbing scene in one of the most beautiful cities on the African continent.

The five-day Global Breakthrough Festival will feature one of the hottest DJs currently on the international clubbing scene, Chilean born Luciano. He is considered to be chiefly responsible for re-shaping the Latin American music scene with his DJ sets, which are a hybrid of minimal, techno and house. Known as Âme, producers Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer who shot to fame during 2007 with the club single “Rej” – French for “Soul” – will be a highlight on the 2008 program. From Bodensee in southern Germany, Henrik Schwarz has been widely acclaimed for his dance mixes and is ready to entertain the crowds at the Global Breakthrough Festival.

Snow Patrol, from Glasgow in Scotland, have become one of the biggest selling bands in the world, with hits including “Chasing Cars”, “Run” and the soundtrack to Spiderman 3, “Signal Fire”. Tom Simpson (keyboard) and Gary Lightbody (Vocals) of Snow Patrol are taking a break from touring - and from the cold Northern Hemisphere winter - to enjoy the Global Breakthrough Festival in sunny South Africa. On 1 March the duo will be performing their unique brand of music on top of the renowned Cape Town landmark, Signal Hill, a venue which offers an incredible 360 degree view of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town and Robben Island.

Other Cape Town venues for the Global Breakthrough Festival include Karma in Camps Bay, Mzolis in Guguletu, the Helicopter Hangar at the V & A Waterfront, The West Coast Ostrich Ranch and Baraza in Camps Bay. Fringe events will be hosted in Gauteng at The Miller Warehouse in Centurion and the Godfrey Moloi Mansion in Soweto. South African DJs include Oskido, Rick Hunter, Killer Robot and Digital Rockit.

Clubbers visiting Cape Town and Gauteng for the Global Breakthrough Festival will find that there are many compelling reasons to stay and enjoy the sunshine and hospitality of this unique country at the southern tip of Africa.
