Marvellous Ideas and Creations at the Design Indaba

The very first Design Indaba was held in South Africa in the year 2006. Its unprecedented success has led to masses of entries for exhibitors' spaces for the 2008 Design Indaba Expo. Between the 23rd and 26th of February 2008, the Cape Town International Convention Centre will come alive with colorful and creative exhibits, showcasing local and nationwide talent and the latest trends. With over one thousand five hundred stores to explore while discovering new and innovative ideas, the Design Indaba is guaranteed to have something for everyone.

Cape Town is known as one of the South Africa’s most fashion and design conscious destinations, and it is only fitting that a world class event, such as the Design Indaba Expo, be held in a city that is teeming with creativity and artistic ability. Over and above the exhibits of mind blowing design, there is a magnificent fashion show that allows clothing designers the opportunity to show the public some of their work.

What makes the Design Indaba so unique is the fact that it does not specialize in one sector of design. It showcases designs from various industries, such as graphic design, decor, advertising, publishing, jewelry, interior design, film, crafts, fashion and even architecture. It is a festival of creative thoughts that knows no boundaries or limits. Innovative and original expressions of South Africa can be seen throughout the entire event and each exhibit is selected through a panel of professionals and experts in the design to ensure that each exhibitor is worthy of their place at the exhibition. The Design Indaba also draws many international buyers who attend this fascinating event looking for new products and with plans to build trade relationships.

Exhibitors to look forward to include the Tsai Design Studio, What If The World / Design Studio, Haldane Martin CC, Willowlamp, Halo Design, Cornelius Lemmer, SABS Design Institute, Urban Africa, African Dream Beads, Shoes Of Flavour, Sway Textiles, Carole Nevin Designs, Mantis Prints, Urbanative Jewellery, Tiffany Marx, Studio on Roodebloem, Firepetals & Frieda Luhl, Ornament, David Bolding, Goldsmith, Amanda Marais, The House of Hector, Skermunkil, The Letterpress company, Vespa South, Africa, Meu, The Creative Block, Cape Town Partnership, Ob Art Mosaics, Monkeybiz South Africa, Cape Craft Design Institute, Noko Designs, uSisi Designs, LA Afrika Designs, Flickglass cc, Design Afrika, Light From Africa Foundation, Zenzulu tm, Molten, Michael Haigh Ceramics, Clementina Van Der Walt, Ceramic Studio, Imiso Ceramics, Homebakes, Tania Babb Ceramics, Lorenzo Nassimbeni, Jeanne Wassenaar and Pepper Plum Designs.
