Create your Own Eden with the Help of Gardenex 2008

South Africa’s climate is particularly suited to outdoor living. Many sun-loving South Africans are keen gardeners and go to great lengths to turn the outdoor areas of their homes into little pieces of paradise. It is little wonder then that Gardenex is the leading garden and outdoor living fair in South Africa.

Taking place at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northriding, Gauteng, Gardenex 2008 will offer local and international exhibitors the opportunity to showcase products and services relating to every aspect of gardening and landscaping to the thousands of enthusiastic gardeners and homemakers who flock to the fair from all over the country.

Around 100 exhibitors will be setting up displays at Gardenex 2008 and visitors can look forward to seeing landscaping specialists, nurseries, a multitude of different and innovative water features, outdoor furniture to suit every pocket, seed and bulb suppliers, flower arranging and florist supplies, indoor and outdoor plant maintenance services, environment friendly energy alternatives, pottery, pet accessories, compost containers, garden sheds, hydroponics, gardening books and magazines, Bonsai, gardening tools and gadgets to meet any gardening challenge, and much, much more. Of course, a South African home is incomplete without a braai (barbecue) of some sort and there will be plenty of interesting braai ideas on display.

Visitors to Gardenex 2008 can learn from the experts during the “Blooming Ideas Theater”, which will run throughout the three day fair. Topics that will be covered include Pet Friendly Gardens, Power Flower Florist’s Workshop, Planning your Garden, Ready Steady Plant by The Gardener Magazine and Building Health with Healing Food by Margaret Roberts. Special book launches that will take place at different times during Gardenex 2008 include ‘Bird Spotting’, ‘Gardening with Succulents’ and ‘Small Gardens’.

Well respected South African garden specialist, Keith Kirsten, will be at Gardenex 2008 and is offering a lucky winner the garden-lover’s trip of a lifetime to the Chelsea Flower Show in the UK in May 2008. The trip includes visiting some of the UK’s most exquisite gardens – so look out for the Keith Kirsten exhibition stand.

To keep the little ones busy and entertained, Cadbury’s will be hosting a chocolate fantasy garden, and the gardening bear, Mulbry, will be supervising kiddies planting workshops. Charities that will be present at Gardenex 2008 include CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa) and Johannesburg Child Welfare Society. Visitors are encouraged to support these worthy charities that are devoted to making the life of each child in their care a little easier.

So, whether you are a visitor to sunny South Africa, or an outdoors loving South African, don’t miss out on visiting Gardenex 2008 from 18 to 20 April
